Eventos climáticos extremos e as mudanças climáticas – entenda.

Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS) apresenta avaliações de como as mudanças climáticas causadas pelo homem podem ter afetado a força e a probabilidade de eventos climáticos extremos individuais.

As secas das planícies do norte dos EUA e da África Oriental de 2017, as inundações na América do Sul, China e Bangladesh e as ondas de calor na China e no Mediterrâneo foram mais prováveis pelas mudanças climáticas causadas pelo homem, segundo uma nova pesquisa publicada no Boletim da Sociedade Meteorológica Americana (BAMS).

A sétima edição do relatório, Explaining Extreme Events in 2017 from Climate Perspective, também incluiu análises de eventos de calor oceânico, incluindo intensas ondas de calor no Mar da Tasmânia, fora da Austrália em 2017 e 2018, que eram “virtualmente impossíveis” sem causas humanas, das mudanças climáticas. Também estão incluídas análises de incêndios australianos e inundações no Uruguai.

Este é o segundo ano em que os cientistas identificaram eventos climáticos extremos que, segundo eles, não poderiam ter acontecido sem o aquecimento do clima por meio de mudanças climáticas induzidas pelo homem.
